Beliefs and Values

As Disciples in Richmond, we believe that…

God's will and purposes are most clearly revealed in the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.

The Church, even in its diversity, is the body of Christ united in one God, one faith, and one baptism.

The Apostles and Nicene Creeds are guides for teaching the historic faith of the church, and not a test for participation in the Church.

Christians are called to act in such a way that God's love is manifested in whom we are and what we do.

Faith is a journey with God and in Christian community.

Welcome to the Journey!

As Disciples in Richmond, we value…

Love: God’s greatest gift is our greatest priority
Family: in the multiple ways families are found, formed and fostered in today’s world
Humor: without the smiles and laughs our souls’ quest lacks spirit
Hospitality: we embrace all in the hope of hope
Sensitivity: sharp minds and compassionate hearts clear the path of a thorny way
Faith: a destination following the Divine hacked out of the reality of this world
Creation: accountability to the environment in which we live embodies God’s belief in the goodness of God’s creation
Equality: sex, class, race, orientation and age do not keep us from sharing the blessing of the table
The Bible: our principle source to the infinite ways God relates to the world

As Disciples in Richmond, we refuse to pander to hate, or use fear as a motivator.
