Associate Minister

Michael has served First Christian Church as Associate Minister since April 2011.  He grew up in the Church of the Nazarene, becoming a Disciple after serving Perryville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as a youth pastor and, after graduating from college, as an interim senior pastor. 

Michael received a B.A. from Centre College (2006), double majoring in Economics and Religious Studies; and a M.Div. from the University of Chicago Divinity School (2010).  During his divinity school studies Michael was a resident and scholar at the Disciples Divinity House.  He is a published contributor to A Dictionary of Philosophy of Religion (Continuum, 2010).

Michael was ordained (2010) at Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lincolnshire, IL, where he served for over two years in numerous capacities: Student Associate Minister, Sabbatical Senior Minister, and Minister of Youth and Young Adults.

Michael is married to Rebecca, who is a practicing optometrist in Richmond.

For fun, Michael enjoys reading, exercising, and the outdoors, particularly hiking with Rebecca.
