Linda Hensley

Organist

Linda Lisle Hensley has been the organist/pianist since November 2005.  Prior to First Christian, she was the organist/pianist for Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Lexington, KY for ten years.  She studied piano (along with her siblings Connie, Troy, Kathy & Carolyn) with Estelle Stone.  She attended Eastern Kentucky University, studying piano and the pipe organ with Dr. John Turnbull.  After two years at EKU, she transferred to the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati as a piano performance major.  She later completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts degree at EKU.

She grew up attending the Nazarene Church on Aspen Ave. in Richmond, KY.  While in the 7th grade, they bought an electronic organ and she began playing duets with her sister Connie, (also an organist). This new instrument-interest led to her being hired at Colonel Sander’s first sit-down restaurant in Richmond/Kentucky--where she met the Colonel himself.

A professional entertainer, Linda has toured the United States, performing for and with many headliners. She recorded a live album with her original music and was a winner of the Nashville show ‘You Can Be a Star.'  She has had feature roles or music director of over 60 musical/dramatic productions in dinner theatres and at CCM & EKU.

Some of Linda's interests are music therapy, composing/arranging, and puppetry/clowning.  She is a Hospice volunteer.  Linda credits her parents Betty and Arbie for all of their support and love.  She has one son, Micah McGurk, who is a screenwriter living in Los Angeles, CA.

Linda enjoys playing for all of the various services and events at First Christian!
