The Youth Programs are designed for authenticity, experience, and growth with God—both inwardly and outwardly. Fun, safe, and creative, we are more than a social group. We want more than rote learning or unexamined principles. A transformative life following Jesus is our reason for being even as we laugh, joke and play. Whether studying Scripture, discussing current events or faith issues, we actively seek to slow down and to frame our time together through the blessing of God’s love, real and never-ending. This is the love that seals the bonds of the friendships we make and keeps the doors open—a type of radical hospitality—to the new members of our group. These first steps in our journey of Christian faith are storied ones. They are more than important; they are foundational to each member’s character. We invite you or your youth to share in this walk, a commitment unlike any other.
Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF): This group is for young persons in High School (grades 9-12). Focus is placed on right relationships—with God, self and other. A key goal with this group is to move beyond the self-absorption of adolescence and to learn to see God in all the ways that God makes God’s self known, especially through outreach and mission. We utilize games, movies, and discussion as well as frequent trips and events.
Chi Rho: This group is for young persons in Middle School (grades 6-8). Often the most difficult and awkward of life stages, the Chi Rho group strives to form a safe and fun place where each individual can begin to discover the person God created them to be. The hope for the group is to develop a strong foundation and understanding of God’s depth. As with the CYF, we fill our meetings with games, movies, discussions and trips.
Junior Youth Fellowship (JYF) and Young Disciples: A combined group of elementary aged youth (grades 4-5 and K-3, respectively), these youth explore the essential basics to Christian faith: love, friendship, prayer, art and mission. Time is given to journeying through the Christian story and learning the meaning of this story to the life of each member. We meet in the Fellowship Hall.
Other Regular Youth Events:
Summer mission trips, MLK Weekend trips, and camps through The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kentucky.
