Dr. Richard Waters
Chancel Choir Director
It is my privilege to be part of the longstanding tradition of excellence in choral singing at First Christian Church. I have been Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Music at Eastern Kentucky University since 2011, and joined the staff at FCC in 2015. I have previously served Catholic, Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian, and United Church of Christ congregations in Connecticut, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Virginia. My first church music experience was as a treble in the All Saints Choir of Men and Boys in Richmond, Virginia. I have degrees in music education and choral conducting from James Madison University, the Hartt School of Music, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I live in Lexington with my wife, Cindy, and our four children.

Linda Hensley
Church Organist
I am a Richmond native and graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance. My sister was the first organ student at EKU and I followed right behind her. In my early performing career I toured the country as a pianist/entertainer and was involved in over 47 union musicals/plays. I love to play for all the various programs in the church. I love a good story or movie and have always been astonished at the therapeutic power of music! I am proud and grateful to have been the organist and pianist for FCC since 2005.
My position as Office Assistant actually started out as a volunteer situation. After 27 year, I retired from teaching Kindergarten and Pre-K children and agreed to “help out” in the office one morning a week. Being a life-long member of First Christian, I was familiar with many of our families and that helped make the job pretty easy. Some changes were made in the structure of the office staff and here I am. I also direct the hand bell choir and have served as Deacon and Elder over the years.
